In one line
NightMaw is a physics-driven multiplayer horror game where hungry, man-made monsters stalk, pounce on and devour each other in procedurally generated dungeons.
Description
Bioengineered to eat the world's rubbish, the Gorbulons did their job too well. Now the rubbish is gone, and they're still hungry. In NightMaw, every player is a Gorb: a small, soft creature with glowing eyes that can transform into the Maw, a mouth ringed with teeth big enough to swallow another Gorb whole. Sneak through freshly generated facilities, listen for footsteps, and pounce before you're pounced on. There are no fixed hunters and no fixed prey. Everyone is both, all the time. NightMaw is built by one developer in Unreal Engine 5 and is heading to Early Access on Steam.
Features
- Eat or be eaten. Every player is both predator and prey. Swallow rivals whole, or get swallowed.
- Physics-driven movement. Roll, sprint, jump and pounce. A missed lunge leaves you exposed.
- Never the same map twice. Procedurally generated facilities, with randomised lighting and materials every round.
- Play together or alone. Online multiplayer with friends, CPU Gorbs that hunt like players, and solo or co-op Arcade.
- Creepy, not gory. No blood or gore. The swallow is a stylised transformation.
- Built in the open. Development is shared publicly on the dev log.
About the developer
Sneaking Studios is a one-person indie studio. NightMaw is its first game, built entirely in Unreal Engine 5 Blueprints: art direction, design, code and the creatures' many, many teeth.
